Rapha Medical – Our History

In 1989, September 26, the Lord instructed Dr. Paul A. Ushie to “go to the place of the ranchers”. For some time, Dr. Ushie did not understand where exactly the Lord wanted him to go.

In April 1990, while working with Evangel Hospital, a prominent Fulani traditional leader from Sardauna local government area known as Jauro Saidu (late) came to the hospital for treatment and was attended to by Dr. Ushie. At the end of the treatment late Jauro Saidu began to plead with Dr. Ushie to come over and help his people. By December 29, 1990, the Lord made the vision clearer, and in July 1991, Dr. Ushie visited Sardauna local government for the first time and started an outreach work at Labbare where the late Jauro Saidu lived.

From that time onward, Dr. Ushie with the support of his wife Mary and volunteers have been reaching out to the rural communities in this area with the gospel and medical care. Our anchor scripture is Psalm 107: 20 “The Lord sent His WORD and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction”.

As the outreach work began to grow, Dr. Ushie could no longer cope with his regular job in the city effectively, so by 2005 he took a two years leave of absence to concentrate more on the work. By 2009, he resigned his appointment in the city. The need for a ministry base became obvious, so a property was purchased in Gembu, the local government headquarters of Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State.

From our “Base”, the ministry reaches out to the communities through village medical outreaches. Since 1991 till date, RMO has continued to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the people of Sarduana Local Government Area of Taraba State.
